On comparison and labeling…
Comparison is the thief of joy.
“The wise man doesn’t compete; therefore nobody can compete with him.”
~ Laozi
By not engaging in competition, the wise man sets himself apart and becomes untouchable, encouraging a shift in focus from external validation and comparison to inner growth and self-improvement.
True strength and success come from within, rather than from outdoing others.
Remind myself to judge my life against my past and only look forward.
Don’t compare yourself to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
Labels, on people especially, are limiting.
“Once you label me you negate me.”
~ Soren Kierkegaard
By giving me a name, you negate all of the other things I could possibly be, defining and precluding yourself from being anything else.
You lock the object/subject into being a certain thing by pinning it down, naming it, but at the same time you are creating it, defining it to exist.
Labels pin reality into place. They limit the possibilities.
