On the past…
A man who dwells on his past, robs his future.
Burn the past daily.
If a memory from the past still upsets you, write down the incident in detail to bring the murky events into focus, come come to terms with what happened, and strip the memory of its horror.
The person of amor fati doesn’t seek to erase anything of their past, but rather accepts what has occurred, the good and the bad, the mistaken and the wise, with strength and an all-embracing gratitude that borders on a kind of enthusiastic affection.
As soon as you begin doubting your past, wishing that it was different or wishing you had done something different, you have begun a battle in your mind that can never be won.
In addition, if you erase all the mistakes of your past you would erase all the wisdom of your present. Remember the lessons and they will serve you well.
Focus on the present, it’s the one thing you can actively change for the better.
